On November 20, LA Governor Bobby Jindal announced a hiring freeze until June 30th, 2009, in order to deal with a projected shortfall of revenue in the coming year.
The order comes as state government deals with the costs of the two recent hurricanes in the midst of national economic uncertainty, volatile oil prices, state revenue declines, and a projected $1.3 billion shortfall for the next fiscal year.
Limited hiring will be permitted in direct patient care and emergency services areas. All other positions must be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
